Text Box: Youth Volunteerism
The Volunteer Center is committed to connecting youth with “youth friendly” volunteer opportunities throughout the South Bay.  We also provide presentations to local schools, scout troops, and nonprofits focusing on the importance of youth volunteering and service learning.  To learn more, please contact the Youth Programs Coordinator, Katie Kang.
The Volunteer Center Youth Coalition (VCYC)
Founded in September 1999, VCYC was designed to identify, empower, and mobilize youth from South Bay high schools by providing them with information and training to effectively promote positive social change in the community through meaningful volunteerism and active citizenship.

VIVA Summer Service Learning Program
The Summer Service Learning Program is offered to youth ages 13-18 and consists of a variety of age-appropriate volunteer opportunities provided by pre-screened community nonprofits in the South Bay. Pre-service training, orientation at partnering agencies, community service, on-going reflections, celebration and evaluations are all part of this ideal way to volunteer.

Durfee Family Scholarship
The objective of the Durfee Family Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to deserving young people who might not otherwise be able to attend institutions of higher learning.  Applications are available. Click Here to Download the Scholarship Application.
